Div 1 - Spring Series - Heat 2

We get to the LoEG 12.30 for some maintenance and usual pump out then pack the Esky with refreshments.  Next we see Willo ashore and about to row to the boat, but no George today.
Guess he has gone to his soccer Presentation with his brother Ed. Now 2 crew down, a lot will be expected from our spare crew Paul today.
Boat slides out of the bag, Main goes up and the NW breeze gets us away from the mooring and moving out of Glades Bay.  The breeze lifts to forecast strength so what course do we expect from our starter? A quick look at the Sailing book and there are no NW courses, back to the Esky is called.
Our usual chat turns to Ron’s purchase of 4 White Plastic chairs on his way to sailing, next thing we know Is that Lola his lovely wife told him not to buy them, Ron can always take them to their weekender.
Looks like we are going to have a hard close race with 4 boats all about the same length.
And not a lot of difference with sail area as SF has a reef in their main.
Race flag goes up and it is for the No 3 West course, same as the first race this year.  We will only get a bit busy with the Sea Scouts in Hen & Chicken Bay going to No 4 mark. All happy on board and drinks are called.
Five minutes to go with 4 boats all in close company hanging around Looking Glass Bay.
A sign that it could be like this all day, we hope a good steady but on the strong side NW wind to suit our No 3 headsail.
All away and sailing to No1 SF and AOE swap leads with BV and LoEG not far behind, same as we sail back to No5 with not a lot in position times between us all. The next move could come when we sail thru the fleet of Sea Scouts in Hen & Chicken Bay.
All safe for both fleets and as we turn to go back to No1 again we take the west side of the Bay. This will put us all out of each other’s way and safe.
Will we see Speed put up his small white spinnaker again running from No1 to No5, luck could be on our side if he does. We think the breeze is not as square as he would like. This may be when we could catch both SF and AOE running downhill.
It turns out to be as we had hoped. At No5 the turn to go home, we are getting closer to SF and AOE with BV now a little further behind us. A quiet time now required on board if we can close the gap and focus on the task before us, AOE and SF.
The wind and boat running great we can see AOE getting bigger every minute, do we have enough distance to catch them and God be with us, pass them, Sorry No, 26 seconds gap it was .Very Close.
Can we have a NW breeze next week again, great sailing by all crew’s Thank You All for the day.
                                                                   Thank You Starter. Crew LoEG
