It promised to be a great day for a sail – full of sunshine with a nice consistent breeze for a trip down around the islands course.
The start was another great one for XWP, but was caught by the 2 x FARR twins before Searle’s.
A great run was had by all down towards Spectacle Island with Division 1 coming through strong lead by Still Festering .
RBO started disappearing again into the distance putting a nice lead on FGO and XWP with the field now well spread out.
Rounding cockatoo a lull in the breeze got us well prepared for the long spinnaker run up to Putney No. 2 mark having a great run for all.
Unfortunately that great breeze had died off with a strong tide for the last 2 final marks.
RBO came home strong with 1st over the line again with a 6 minute HC win – well done
FGO 2nd over line but XWP kept up that spinnaker from NO.5 mark to come home beating FGO on handicap by only 1 minute ( Carolyn and Michael were in a real hurry to get on dry land and get out on the town ) .
Windfalls coming home with a 4th finish , which was good work in the presence of the dying winds .
A great day was had by all regardless- Can’t wait for next week’s Harbour race.
