A perfect Autumn day was fitting for the final race of the Special Trophies Series. The wind was cool but the sun was warm. And the humidity was less than 99%! The three usual combatants lined up (Still Festering, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Axis of Evil) , but the barrel chested men were reduced to only two, with an incident involving a ladder and some stitches keeping the Rear Commodore on his rear and not on the boat.

Early start for our boat LoEG as there was some needed maintenance to be done, 4 ropes to replace, broken Van block and patch a hole we made last week in the headsail.
We also saw that Axis was replacing rope on the mast with Mitch from SF working hard five meters above the deck. That’s real team work in Div. 1. Last saturday saw the first handicap race in this Autumn season in a NE 8-16 knots . First off the mark Windfalls had a 4 minute advantage over XWP. First stage of the race was WF holding the lead in the uphill stages and then around mark 6 the downwind stage that has seen the boats with spinnakers race away was upon us.
The day started with a great wind which built during the day from 10 to 15 knots NE. Good sailing conditions.
Upon arrival at the club we found Pat playing with water again. He was using his gurney to clean steps and ensure all are safe....thanks Pat. A beautiful day on the river was predicted with a week of high temperatures and strong sea breezes during the day being the norm so why would Saturday be any different... The starter put us on the NE alternative course which sends the boats up to Goat Island, down the Balmain shore then back in front of the club for a couple of laps.
