From 11.oo hrs competitors arrived at the club all ready for the river, but the breeze is missing. It may
be a tough day for Anne the starter, but in try style Anne loves the tough call days.
The fleet starts arriving at the start line with little to no air. Division 1 have 6 boats contesting today, new boats Next light,
And Pacific Express are joining the spring series competition for the first time. All of Division 1 are excited to enjoy more competition and the challenges that the competition bring to all on the water. We are also looking forward to Patto Joining us in his new Adams 10 in the coming weeks.
Due to no wind, Anne delays the start, and both fleets mingle along the start line, Division 3 have the usual starters floating about the river. Whats do we see, but the flag at the club lift and fresh breeze on the water and no sooner was the flags raised and horns sounded to indicate we were about to start a combine division start. LOEG and Axis are in perfect position at the drop of the flag for great starts, just like the old days No one about annoying us guys. Our peace does not last long as we round Abbotsford to have those boys with the big rigs coming chasing and annoying us up the river.
LOEG round mark 1 followed by Still Festering, then AOE and Resurgents rounding within seconds of each other. Back up to Morrision Bay, Still Festering runs down the LOEG and Resurgent take AOE. At Morrision Bay rounding mark positions remain, but AOE take back 3rd position on the mark and head to Abbotsford bay. Close racing remained the name of the came with all enjoying the first for season 2017. At presentation when AOE were announced handicap winner by 12 seconds we truly surprised. Still Festering came in second with Resurgent getting 3rd place.
Still festering, lead all the way to the end chased by LEOG, Resurgent and Axis of Evil, in the dying breeze Next light limp home for a finish, not so lucky were team Pacific Express.
After the race the club was the place to be with team Pacific express, making their way back to celebrate there first spring race. Team next light joined all for the opening dinner which was a great night with most boats being represented.
PRSC was truly the winning place to be today.
