It was a great spinnaker run back from the islands with Xena hoisting the purple people eater to the top when possible – good work team. On the last hoist the purple people eater decided she was dirty and needed a bath. So after she bathed and swam down the port side of the boat we lifted her over the rails for a rest and to safety. Phew…….The pole was then attached to the Genoa which helped us make the last mark. At this stage the wind was dying and the only assistance was the tide.
It was great to see all boats close together throughout the race, always an exciting moment and provides a good challenge. The starters flagged Farrago as first across the line, then Xena, followed by Snowgoose and Fine Balance.
After Xena was safely tucked up on the mooring in Looking Glass Bay, we were loaned a boson’s seat by Fine Balance (thanks guys it was really appreciated). Up went our brave Vince to the top of the mast, first time we have gone up Xena’s mast from the deck. I felt a great relief when I saw Vince safety back on the deck with us all. What a dare devil, thanks Vince.
