The sun was out and wind lacking, with some nervous crew and skippers for a special trophies harbour race with talk of island course instead. But the weather reports advised that the breeze was to freshen into the afternoon.
By the time we get to Searle’s there is more breeze to allow Farrago to start their run with Xena chasing.
Farrago remain in sight all the way to the bridge as the breeze keeps freshening from Drummoyne.
This makes it interesting for the whole fleet as it weaves through the start of DSC Hartley race. Our fleet includes new boats Black Velvet and Rant and Rave in Division 1.
We see some nice sailing by the Hartley fleet including a match race with Xena and a move on BT up there with Sydney to Hobart start shenanigans of 2017, which should have been supplied with application of baby oil.
We have a great trouble free run to Fort Denison. We see Farrago about 10 minutes ahead setting her black spinnaker for home. We round within close sight and straight up with our trademark Purple spinnaker all the way home.
Div 1 come at us at Balmain but only SF and Resurgent pass us on the way home near Searles. We know we are on a great run home with no others in site.
Nice race crew, how good to be home and passed by only two DIv 1 boats on way back and Farrago.
Why all the worry I say - pre race , I told you so to rest of crew :).
A hat trick of races and for Div 1 killers BT also well done both.
Off to Balmain next day for West Harbour Summer Series race 3 and some extra excitement on water and post race......
